Policies & Registration
Policies designed to support a thoughtful, organized, and encouraging musical environment.
Studio Philosophy
At Brittany Brown Piano Studio, lessons are designed to help students develop confidence, creativity, curiosity, and meaningful musical understanding in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Students are encouraged to ask questions, explore music deeply, think independently, and develop practical musicianship through technique, ear training, theory, creativity, and hands-on learning.
The goal is not simply to teach students what to play, but to help them truly understand and connect with music in a lasting way.
-
Tuition reserves a student’s dedicated weekly lesson time within the studio and reflects not only lesson instruction, but also lesson preparation, curriculum development, communication, and ongoing studio support.
Lessons are offered in 30-minute and 60-minute formats and are scheduled as consistent weekly appointments to support steady musical growth throughout the year.
60-minute lessons allow additional space for creativity, theory, improvisation, personal musical goals, and deeper musical exploration.
Monthly tuition:
• $150/month for weekly 30-minute lessons
• $250/month for weekly 60-minute lessonsA $25 registration fee is due each semester and helps cover administrative costs and teaching materials.
Invoices are sent on the 1st of each month and are due by the 8th. Accepted payment methods include Venmo, Zelle, cash, and check.
-
Consistent attendance is one of the most important factors in long-term musical growth and progress.
Tuition reserves a student’s dedicated weekly lesson time, so missed lessons are generally non-refundable and non-transferable. However, reasonable communication and flexibility are always appreciated whenever possible.
If a student is unable to attend an in-person lesson due to illness or weather, online lessons may be offered at the regularly scheduled lesson time when appropriate.
Please communicate scheduling conflicts or absences as early as possible.
-
Online lessons are designed to provide an engaging, interactive, and highly effective learning experience for modern students and busy families.
Students participating in online lessons should have:
• a reliable internet connection
• a piano or keyboard
• a device with a camera and microphone
• a quiet, well-lit learning spaceThe camera should be positioned so both the student and keyboard are visible during lessons.
Online students receive the same thoughtful instruction, creativity-focused learning, and musical guidance as in-person students.
-
Meaningful musical growth comes through consistency, curiosity, exploration, and engagement with the learning process.
Students are encouraged to practice regularly using the strategies and goals discussed during lessons. Thoughtful, focused practice — even in smaller daily sessions — is far more effective than rushed or inconsistent preparation.
The goal of lessons is not simply perfection or memorization, but developing confidence, creativity, independence, understanding, and long-term musical ownership.
Parents can support younger students by helping establish routines, encouraging curiosity, and celebrating progress along the way.
-
Many studio materials and assignments are shared through the My Music Staff student portal.
Additional books, sheet music, or materials may occasionally be recommended or purchased as needed to support student growth and learning goals.
Helpful practice resources may include apps such as Note Rush and NinGenius Music.
-
Students are encouraged to arrive prepared, focused, and ready to engage thoughtfully during lessons.
For in-person lessons:
• Please arrive at your scheduled lesson time
• Drinks with lids are welcome; food should remain outside the studio
• Family members may wait in the waiting area, run errands, or return at pickup timeFor online lessons:
• Students should work in a quiet space with minimal distractions
• Devices should remain stable and properly positioned
• Music and materials should be ready before the lesson begins -
Students are strongly encouraged to participate in studio performances and recital opportunities throughout the year.
Performance experiences help students build confidence, musical expression, creativity, and comfort sharing music with others in a supportive environment.
Recital formats may include live performances, online performances, video submissions, or livestreamed events.
-
Studio-wide communication is typically sent through email and/or My Music Staff.
Families and students are always welcome to reach out with questions regarding lessons, scheduling, materials, or musical goals. Communication specific to individual students may take place through email, phone, or text as needed.
-
Advance notice before discontinuing lessons is always appreciated whenever possible.
Tuition is not refunded for partial months once payment has been made.
Brittany Brown Piano Studio reserves the right to discontinue lessons if the student-teacher relationship is no longer a positive fit for the studio environment or if tuition becomes significantly delinquent.
